OUR STORY
The School
The school was founded in 2011 by Rey Ingaran soon after the passing Jenelle Duncan - his friend and an Australian missionary who spent 4 years serving the Filipino people. Rey wanted to offer the poor kids in his neighbourhood a free quality education so he reached out to Jenelle's husband Paul. So they, with Winnie, Rey's wife, set out to create a school to serve the community. Have a look at the Volunteer page to watch the videos of the school being built. Rey is still the administraor of the school.
The Founders
Rey and Winnie Ingaran dedicated over 35 years to ministry work in and around Cabagan, mainly focusing on church planting. In 2011, they decided to expand their efforts and established the Jenelle Duncan Memorial Christian School to support local children. Winnie served as the first school principal and teacher, and her passion for education was evident in the school's inclusive and nurturing environment. Sadly, Winnie passed away in 2021, leaving a void in the school community. Her legacy lives on in the school's mission to provide quality education and spiritual guidance to young learners. Rey has taken over as the school's principal and administrator, continuing the school's mission to make a positive impact in the lives of children in Cabagan.
Who was Jenelle?
Jenelle's life
Jenelle was a remarkable woman who dedicated her life to serving others. She traveled with her husband, Paul, to the Philippines as a missionary where she utilized her skills as an Occupational Therapist to help urban poor people attending a free clinic in Manila. Her selflessness and compassion were evident to everyone she met, and she made a lasting impact on those she served. A few years after returning to Australia, Jenelle developed a neurological condition that eventually took her life in 2011. Although she is no longer with us, her legacy of serving others lives on and inspires us all.
Family
Jenelle married Paul in Melbourne, Australia in 1994. The couple welcomed their first child, Josiah, in 1999, followed by Hannah in 2001, and Emme in 2003, completing their family. Jenelle was a devoted mother who loved her children deeply and would do anything for them. Her selflessness and kindness were evident in everything she did, and her love and care will always be remembered.
